“A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight, walking in a winter WEDDING wonderland.”

Not every bride-to-be craves a balmy sun-kissed wedding amongst the greenery and Summer blooms. For those brides and grooms with a fondness for the frosty months there's nothing more enchanting than the thought of getting married as glittering snow flakes fall from the sky. Be it the Christmassy undertones or simply the abundance of schnapps, the snow has a certain magical feel for us all. Couples deciding to have winter wonderland weddings can indulge in all things cosy and classic.

Winter wedding

For the snow queen bride, experiment with beautiful textures throughout your dress. Your backdrop is already white so stand out with feathers, fur, tulle layers and Chantilly lace. Hunter gumboots have a fun pair of metallic silver boots perfect for saving bridal toes from the frost! If you're going for a shorter wedding dress, find some lace patterned white tights and match with a gorgeous pair of lace up booties or some seriously sparkly pumps.

If you are having your ceremony outside, you'll need to make sure your guests are warm as toast. Lay some woolen or (faux!) fur blankets for snuggling into during proceedings. Hire someone to dish out cups of hot chocolate or organic spicy chai after you say your “I do”s. You may decide to take a cheeky “Just Married” ride on a horse and sleigh en-route to your reception. Or even a ski lift ride above the crystallised tree tops for a teeny bit of alone time as a newly married couple!

A sensational snow themed reception isn't complete without some bonbonniere to suit! Personalised snow baubles on place settings will add to the festive atmosphere. Continue your theme throughout your dessert with snow man cake pops and an old school snow-cone vendor serving up icy sweet delights. Set up a hot chocolate bar at your wedding party complete with marshmallow pops, flavoured syrups and sprinkles (and some Baileys for the grown ups perhaps?).

The team at “I do in a Day” love this season! It's a magical time of year where nature sleeps under a shimmering blanket of white, creating a stunning fantasy backdrop for your romantic day. We hope you'll ask us to help plan your winter wedding wonderland!
