Bridal makeup in Spring always makes way for a new refreshing palate to team with the new dose of sunshine that the season brings! This year, trends are brightening the eyes up from your standard smokey eye and adding a morning fresh dewy-ness to complexions.

The Spring Smokey Eye

Safe to say, the smokey eye will never go out of style. However it will morph and change with the seasons. This is exactly what we see here, as designers are embracing lighter earthy browns into eye makeup for their smokey styles. Use relatively light tones (not so dark that it may as well be black!) to create that almost-bare-faced goddess look. Line the top eye line only and finish with mascara.

The Big Winged Eyeliner

Spread your wings! Eyeliner wings seem to be getting bigger and bigger as the years go by, and this SPring is no exception. Kick that eyeliner way out past the outside corner of your eye. When you’re going with this exaggerated look, the trick is to keep it fine and not line the bottom eye line with it. This will avoid giving that heavy, raccoon look. No one wants to be a raccoon for their wedding day (nothing against raccoons).

Berry lips

Totally kissable fruity fantastic wedding lips are an absolute must. And trends are keep cherry and berry colours in this season. For the romantic and whimsical look, try dark tones of rich plum. And for more of a bright, fun day wedding look, a popping cherry colour can take you from daytime ceremony to partying all night under the stars. Brides should be sure to prep their lips with plenty of lip balm or primer before applying your wedding lippy! This will give you prime colour staying power and avoid staining your lips.

Stick-on pop art eyes

For the fun and fancy free bride who likes to experiment with her look! Fendi models rocked super cool graphic eyeliner in recent shows! Think bright bright pastel, bordering on fluro, light blue eye liner on top lids, on a base of black mascara (something blue anyone?). The designer used bright coloured leather from the collection to achieve such a vivid look. You can find stick on liner for your wedding look in make-up stores, or ask your bridal make-up artist during your consultations. They stick on just like fake lashes!

Encrusted

For the glamazon bride who’s all about the sparkle, take inspiration from the Ashish Spring 2015 catwalk. Models strutted their stuff with ultra-bejewelled and shimmering eyelids, from lower lash line right up to the brow. If this extreme look is a bit too much for you (or if you’re scared you might blind your groom at the altar) try sticking to the lower lash line. Line the bottom of your eyes with diamantes from the middle outward, while keeping the rest of your bridal makeup look natural. Or, channel your inner hippie bride chic with a single gem at the inner or outer corners of your eyes.

Now, just as you wouldn’t book a band without an audition, or a cake without a tasting, do not book your bridal makeup artist without a trial! You never know how your requests might translate into reality, so book a session with your potential makeup artist to experiment with looks and get an idea of their style and abilities. A bad smokey eye is the last thing you want to be dealing with the morning of your wedding, eek!
